The Youri x MERCI cardigan is based on our classic model, which we have been manufacturing since Nitto Knitwear was founded: same yarn, same knitting, same finishing steps and same assembly. We simply added details inspired by American university cardigans, the precursors to the Varsity Jacket.

Every detail has meaning.

The two stripes symbolise our two years at MERCI. The large letter-shaped patch refers to the university's initial.

We have also redesigned the ribbed hem to draw inspiration from vintage cardigans, using a tubular finish rather than a 2x2 rib as on our Youri cardigan.

100% extra-fine merino wool yarn (19.5 microns)
Piqué knit, gauge 14
Cuffs knitted in 2 x 2 ribbing
Bottom knitted in tubular (straight finish)
Soft, comfortable feel

RWS yarn: wool from sheep raised humanely (mulesing prohibited), sustainably managed pastures, guaranteed traceability from sheep to finished product.

Woolmark certified yarn: superior quality, traceable and sustainable wool for comfortable and responsible products.

Origin: the farms are located in Australia and New Zealand.

Yarn spinning: the yarn is spun in Poland and dyed in Italy. It is one of the world's most renowned and appreciated spinning mills for its quality, recognised by all textile professionals who use merino wool.

Size & fit +

The Youri cardigan is designed to suit as many body types as possible. Its structure gives it a straight, structured drape that sits well on the shoulders. Wear it in your usual size for a clean, elegant look, or size up for a more relaxed fit — perfect over a thick hoodie for a casual style.

Our model Benjamin is 1.85 m tall and wears a size L.

Care instructions +

Hand wash in cold water or machine wash at a maximum of 20°C on the wool or delicate cycle (for cotton). Maximum spin at 800 rpm. Dry flat.
