Armen Cardigan - Plum
Description
The Armen plum-colored cardigan is made in our workshop in France from a yarn developed by the British spinning mill Z. Hinchliffe & Sons. Composed of 75% Super Geelong lambswool and 25% angora, it features a lightweight, voluminous, and slightly fluffy knit with a particularly soft feel that can be worn directly against the skin.
Knitted on size 7 needles, the cardigan features a loose, relaxed fit. The front is entirely machine-knitted, a particularly rare technique that eliminates any seams between the two front panels and the button placket.
To achieve this construction, we use the intarsia technique, which is usually reserved for knitting multiple colors on a single row. Here, it allows us to create a denser, more durable knit so we can form the buttonholes and sew on the buttons. This process is much more time-consuming, but it results in an exceptional quality finish.
Only the three corozo buttons are added during assembly. Made from a natural material derived from the nut of a palm tree, they are manufactured and dyed in France, in the Baie de Somme, by one of our long-standing partners.
The plum color, with its deep, slightly purplish hues, showcases the richness of the Geelongora yarn and its light, natural fuzz. A cardigan made from Geelong lambswool and angora, crafted in France in the same workshop since 1972, where the craftsmanship has been passed down through three generations.
